Our Pre-Kindergarten Program is designed for students ages 5 to 6 who are ready to take their learning to the next level. This is not a holding pattern before kindergarten — it is a purposeful, academically rich year that builds advanced literacy, mathematical reasoning, scientific inquiry, and leadership skills. Through portfolio-based assessment, real-world field trips, and our signature STEM, dual language, and public communication programs, every Pre-K student leaves Smart Start Academy not just ready for kindergarten, but ahead of it.
Our Pre-K Curriculum
Our Pre-K curriculum is built around seven core pillars that develop the whole student — academically, socially, physically, and creatively. Every pillar is taught through hands-on, inquiry-based learning that challenges students to think deeply and grow confidently.
Advanced Kindergarten Readiness
Our Pre-K students graduate with skills that exceed standard kindergarten entry benchmarks. We cover advanced phonics, early chapter-book reading, two-digit math concepts, and independent writing — so students walk into kindergarten already thriving.
Writing & Handwriting Focus
From letter formation to complete sentences, our structured writing program builds legible handwriting, proper pencil grip, and the ability to express ideas in writing. Students develop confidence on paper that carries through every grade level.
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
We teach students to ask why, question assumptions, and work through challenges systematically. Through puzzles, debates, project-based learning, and open-ended investigations, students develop the reasoning skills that define lifelong learners.
Science & Nature Exploration
Our science curriculum goes beyond the classroom — students conduct experiments, observe the natural world, document findings, and draw conclusions. We build genuine scientific curiosity and the habits of mind that fuel discovery.
Leadership Development

Dual Language Immersion: Mandarin & Spanish

5-Course Healthy Organic Meals, Every Day
Every meal served at Smart Start Academy is thoughtfully prepared using fresh, organic ingredients — free from artificial additives, preservatives, and refined sugars. Our in-house nutrition program is designed to fuel growing minds and bodies throughout the full school day.
Course 1
Morning Welcome Snack
Fresh seasonal fruit, whole-grain mini muffins or oat bites, and water or organic whole milk to start the day with natural energy.
Course 2
Mid-Morning Nourishment
Organic yogurt parfait with granola and berries, or sliced veggies with hummus — light, nutrient-dense fuel between activities.
Course 3
Hot Lunch
A warm, balanced plate: lean protein (chicken, turkey, or plant-based), whole-grain carbohydrates, and two servings of steamed or roasted vegetables.
Course 4
Afternoon Snack
Whole-grain crackers with nut-free seed butter, apple slices, or cheese cubes — a satisfying bridge between lunch and pickup.
Course 5
Dinner
A wholesome, home-style dinner to close the day: tender chicken breast cooked in organic butter, served alongside a colorful medley of fresh vegetables and freshly made organic homemade pasta.
All meals are prepared fresh daily. We accommodate allergies, dietary restrictions, and family preferences. Menus rotate seasonally and are posted weekly.
