Philosophy
At SSA, we seek to provide children with meaningful experiences through play and exploration, while creating opportunities for each child to reach his/her highest potential.
Consistent with Howard Gardner’s notion for multiple intelligences, the Reggio Emilia approach calls for the integration of all different intelligences: logical/mathematical, linguistic, bodily, musical, Inter/Intrapersonal and naturalistic.
Smart Start achieves the integration of all these areas through the use of painting, sculpting, music classes, science experiments and many other forms of expressions.
Amazing! 5 to 1 student to teacher ratio
We are devoted to giving each child as much individual attention as possible. Therefore, at S.S.A, we have a 5 to 1 ratio. This means for every 5 students there is a teacher assigned to their group. This helps our educators plan individual lessons that are created based on each individual child’s ability and interest.
Atelier/ Project Studio
Art is vital to our school. Our preschool is equipped with a beautiful atelier which is full of sunlight. This space is designed for large and small group activities. Children are encouraged to create paintings, drawings, sculptures and many more art activities. In many circumstances we encourage our students to work together on a single mural, in order to promote social interaction skills.
Playground Area
SSA has a large playground area on site. Children do not have to leave our school to enjoy fresh air and exercise. Our children are provided crucial and vital opportunities to accelerate their social, emotional, motor and cognitive development during their outdoor play time. Weather permitting, children enjoy 45-60 minutes of outdoor play each day.
Community Support & Parent Involvement
We believe that the support of the community and student’s parents are vital in assisting us accomplish our goals related to the education and socialization of our students. Therefore, SSA invites community employees such as the JC Police & Fire Dept., local businesses, and many more to come in and share their experiences with our students.
We work very closely with our parents. SSA conducts 4 parent-teacher meetings a school year. We discuss each child’s progress and individual needs. Our educators and parents work together to help each child reach their highest potential.
